The greatest and probably best part of being a teacher is the annual Parent, Teacher and Student Conferences. Obviously I am joking here, they can be stressful and tough for all parties involved. I have developed some recording sheets that can be used for writing down key information at the start of year and middle of the year conferences.

I also have some helpful tips on surviving these times
- Know what you are going to talk about
- Be prepared
- Stick to the time limit, if it seems like it is going to go on for longer say “I can see that this is very important to you and I don’t want you to feel like I am not interested, so can we please make an additional time to talk further about this.” Sounds brunt but it works
- If you know you might have an issue to talk about, make sure you have discussed it previously with the parents. There should be no surprises on the night.
- Don’t bring in your previous experiences to the conference, start each conference with a fresh perspective
